Veronica Ewers and Her Personal & Professional Journey in Cycling

Special Episode: Going Live for Momentum — Recorded live at Pacha Collective in Seattle, as part of the Momentum event series celebrating women, trans, femmes, and non-binary cyclists, this episode features a conversation with former professional road cyclist Veronica Ewers. Veronica grew up playing soccer in Moscow, Idaho, discovered cycling in her mid-20s through a Seattle group ride — showing up on an ill-fitting commuter bike with a rusted chain — and within just a few years was racing at the highest level of women's professional cycling for EF Education-Oatley. She shares how the community she found through Fount Cycling Guild in Seattle was the spark that changed everything, and what it felt like to go from a local criterium scene to navigating a 140-person European peloton with race motos and helicopters buzzing overhead.

Veronica offers a candid and fascinating look at what life actually looks like behind the scenes of a pro race: late-night dinners, cramped camper vans, and the enormous team infrastructure that most viewers never see. She also opens up about her personal health journey, including her experience with RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) and an eating disorder that developed during her career, how those things affected her body and her performance, and why she has stepped back from racing to prioritize her long-term health and wellbeing.

It's an honest, inspiring, and at times deeply personal conversation about what it takes to reach the top of the sport and what it means to take care of yourself along the way.
